A day in the life of a Building Surveyor – Sam Parsons

Sam Parsons was recently promoted to Principal Building Surveyor after working in chartered and senior positions. His role is imperative as both a technical expert and a mentor to those in earlier stages of their career.

Building surveying is the bedrock of our company, and employees like Sam are still at the forefront of our business as it goes from strength to strength with technology changing the game at every turn.

7:30am – Popped into the office to prepare and issue a report on a development in Wimbledon that Trident is monitoring.
9:15am – Caught the train to Lewisham to visit Woodstock Court, a new build development of eight terraced houses Trident is project managing.
10am – Attended a progress meeting at Woodstock Court with the professional team and the client to ensure everyone is happy with the progress.
11am – Site visit at Woodstock with Lewisham Council’s planning officer to show her the site and talk her through our current progress.
1pm – Back in the City office to update a schedule of dilapidations on Knollys House in Croydon, following yesterday’s site visit. Also issued an updated schedule to the tenant’s surveyor for comment.
3:30pm – APC Supervisor meeting with Alex Ford to run through his progress in preparing for the APC submission in early 2020.
4:30pm – out to the local with some colleagues for a well-earned Friday pint!
Sam is the epitome of our building surveying team in that he works on so many different projects with such a variety of people, yet always pushes to achieve the best for all involved parties.
