A day in the life of a Building Surveyor – Phillipa Burgin

Phillipa Burgin started in Trident’s London West End office in 2017 as an assistant surveyor and whilst with us has achieved chartered status and has been part of some key projects including offices, residential schemes and football stadiums.

Working in the city exposes our staff to all sort of work and experiences, and Phillipa has sent us a little snippet of what her usual working day is like:

7am – Spin or Yoga class
8:30am – Check my emails and respond where required, print agenda and relevant documents for the day ahead
10am – Chair a progress meeting onsite with the design team at Lyndhurst Gardens, Hampstead
11am – Chair a Construction Working Group meeting for neighbours and locals to voice any concerns at Lyndhurst Gardens, Hampstead
12pm – Back in the office – update my client in Israel over the phone and action any urgent items. Dictate my minute notes for typing
1pm – Lunch and try to read a few pages of my book
1:30pm – Review contractors piling RAMS (risk assessment and method statements) for AFC Wimbledon Stadium
3:30pm – Finish specification for upcoming industrial refurb tender – Unit 8 Great West Trading Estate
6pm – Brave the Northern line home and have dinner and a glass of wine with my housemates
Phillipa is part of the new generation in our London City team who are marrying the traditional methods of building surveying with our advancements in proptech to provide a client-focused approach.
