Keep cool

Air conditioning can increase your car’s fuel consumption by up to 10 per cent.

Driving with your windows open drastically reduces your fuel efficiency, far more so than putting the air conditioning on when motorway driving. The increased drag on the car increases the fuel consumption more than by having your air conditioning on. So during the summer preferably keep the windows shut, and the air conditioning on if you want to keep cool.

Try not to over use air conditioning as it decreases fuel efficiency too!

Tyres also effect fuel efficiency. It is estimated that about 50% of tyres on the road are under inflated. This wastes fuel and decreases your fuel efficiency. Check your tyre pressures every fortnight as worn tyres will also decrease fuel efficiency.
