2007 Shooting day

2007 Shooting day

Holland and Holland hosted the annual Trident clay pigeon shooting day at the Ruislip shooting ground on Thursday 11 October and, once again, we had paid the insurance premium to guarantee a superb autumnal day.  This year the standard of competition matched the excellent weather with Rob Jewell of ING winning the top gun award by one shot from three others with a 98% hit rate.  Unfortunately for those competing for the team prize, Rob and his three closest competitors were all in the same team. Not surprisingly, this team, captained by Trident’s Lee Kempley, won the top prize with the assistance of Rob, Jamie Snary of MJ Mapp, Mike Morris of ING (bailed out by Toby Smith of ING later on), Johnny de Lisle of PMB Holdings and Aston Woodward of Oxygen.  The perfect finale to the day was provided by the traditional flurry of six guns from each team throwing as much lead as possible into the sky, blotting out the setting sun in the process, followed by a dinner of spit roast lamb and seasonal vegetables with the odd glass or two to help dissipate the adrenalin rush.  Our congratulations to all who took part, and commiserations to Aston Woodward who appears to have gone temporarily blind.
