Cost Management

Procurement & Tendering

Choosing the right project delivery strategy is critical to the success of the project. Selection of an appropriate procurement route and form of contract are key decisions for any project or programme of works.

Trident implements procurement and contract strategies to manage risk and we tailor our solutions to achieve successful project outcomes.

Many factors influence the final choice of procurement but there are three key drivers – time, cost and quality. The prioritisation of these drivers should be established with the client at an early stage. Other items that will influence the decision include the client’s attitude towards risk and the need for compliance with framework procedures and public procurement rules.

Our cost management team will lead the process and prepare bespoke procurement reports with consideration of key elements:

  • Balance of risk/risk allocation
  • Cost certainty
  • Size, value and complexity of the project
  • Design responsibility
  • Control over sub-contractors
  • Most competitive price
  • Increased contractor involvement in design
  • Ability to overlap design and tendering within the programme
  • Prevailing market conditions

We have experience in all of the accepted procurement routes and contract arrangements available in the industry. We can lead clients and design teams through the selection process to agree upon the optimum solution for the particular project or programme of projects.

Tendering

Tendering is an important phase in the procurement strategy and relates to the bidding process in obtaining a price and how a contractor is actually appointed. There are many scenarios and different options with advantages and disadvantages of each procurement strategies which relate to the three main tendering strategies outlined below:

  • Single stage tendering
  • Two stage tendering
  • Negotiated tender
